Nox is a brand dedicated to the manufacture of semitorre and has given the leap to the power supplies of high-end series Krypton. The 900 W model features six +12 V lines offering up to 964 W and 72 A, being compatible with both SLI, Quad SLI and CrossFire X. All cables are modular, with the exception of those who give power to the plate, with a quality component that makes it worthy of the Bronze 80PLUS certification, which ensures efficiency above 86%.

Tests:
The test equipment described above corresponds to the load that the source is put in charge mode (full). Is simulated by a series of resistive loads connected to the supply outlets especially the line forcing +12 V For the state “idle” has taken a fixed power of 230 W. The test equipment described in this way facilitates the comparison of tests with real equipment. It has left the system running for at least half an hour so that all components and especially the source reaches its normal operating temperature, then values taken with a digital multimeter directly into the socket on the motherboard, measurements were taken at rest (idle) and load (full).

To determine the power consumption of the equipment and the power factor, we used a power measuring device that plugs in series with the outlet of the source. The sound level emitted by the source indicated subjectively analyzer, having been the environmental temperature of 21 º C.
The stresses obtained by the multimeter readings have been very good during testing, fixing the voltages slightly above the reference to ensure good stability. Mainly emphasizes virtually non-existence of voltage drop as the load increases, the small drop of 200 mV at 720 W load is negligible. These data indicate that the voltage control circuit used in the Krypton works seamlessly ensuring at all times and under any load, sufficient power delivery and unchanged. The active PFC circuit, interesting to minimize costs in billings for power, also works perfectly not having fallen into any of the tests of the optimal value of 100%.
The next positive aspect of this source is low and almost negligible level of sound that emits the ventilation system, has been through all the trials extremely quiet, even with the big test of 720 W. This is only possible with a design of high efficiency and minimizing losses and heat generated during the transformations, while significantly reducing power consumption. That is why this model is given to certified 80 PLUS BRONZE.
Conclusion:
lines is contrasted with a burden of 80% of capacity, almost unchanged, with an efficiency that has hovered around 86% now, with power factor of 100% even at low load. With a total of four PCI-Express connectors and thanks to high amperage of the +12 V lines, we can do SLI or CrossFire X with total stability. On the other hand, silent ventilation system in all cases, thanks to the high efficiency of Krypton.
An excellent source certainly worthy of the Bronze 80PLUS certification, quiet, modular cables and a price that few brands can compete.
